As part of his regular scrutiny and support of the Chief Constable and the officers and staff of South Wales Police, the Police & Crime Commissioner Alun Michael is inviting people to submit any questions they may have about how the Covid-19 crisis is affecting local policing and the plans to keep people safe in their homes and communities which have been set out in the Police & Crime Plan.
Operational questions will be put to Chief Constable Matt Jukes by the Commissioner and answers from the Commissioner and the Chief Constable will be published here on our website. The issues raised will be discussed in fuller detail during the next Commissioner’s Strategic Board meeting next week.
So if you have any areas of concern on Covid-19 and policing in this time of a public health emergency, please send in your questions now.
In any event please send in your questions by 12 noon on Tuesday 31st March 2020.
The Commissioners Strategic Board will take place on Wednesday 1st April 2020 and a transcript of answers will be published to our website and highlighted across social media channels following the meeting.
Police & Crime Commissioner Alun Michael said:
“We currently find ourselves in unprecedented and uncertain times from the Covid-19 outbreak, so it is critically important for us to understand and address any concerns in the community about the impact on policing. Your questions will help us to give clear messages to the public and reduces local concern by enabling us to reassure people by showing how we are doing everything possible to keep them safe.
“I have already paid tribute to the dedication of our people, from the Chief Constable to every Constable, PCSO and staff members and as the voice of the public within policing in South Wales, I am asking you to give me your questions and concerns so they can be addressed. We’ll tell you what we are doing to help - and if you come up with concerns that we haven’t addressed we’ll get onto those issues straight away."
You can pose your questions straight away and you have until 12 noon on Tuesday 31st March 2020 to get your question onto the formal agenda of the Strategic Board. You can contact the Police & Crime Commissioner as follows:
