Police and Crime Reduction Plan and Priorities
The Commissioner sets the priorities for policing South Wales through the Police & Crime Plan 2022-26.
Together the Commissioner and Chief Constable have provided a firm foundation for the coming year to deliver long-term, sustainable improvements despite the major challenges that arise from reduced finances.
Sir Robert Peel set out that the purpose of the police is to cut crime – to reduce offending and cut re-offending Even though he said this nearly 200 years ago, the principles are still the same, and this is the focus of the Police and Crime Reduction Plan. The police cannot prevent or reduce crime alone and so the priorities set out within the plan clearly reflect the need to continue working together with all our statutory partners and third sector organisations to make our communities safer.
