Commissioner presents grant to Dowlais Community Centre to strengthen youth and community engagement

Last week, Police & Crime Commissioner, Emma Wools visited Dowlais Community Centre in Merthyr Tydfil to present a £9,500 grant, on behalf of the South Wales Police Youth Trust, where she serves as a Trustee.

This funding will support the launch of a powerful six-month initiative designed to strengthen youth and community engagement. The project will provide young people with meaningful opportunities, and guidance, helping them stay connected, make positive choices, and avoid paths that could lead to future offending.

During her visit, the Commissioner met with the dedicated team delivering the programme, which focuses on addressing anti‑social behaviour among 11‑ to 18‑year‑olds. Shaped through direct consultation with young people, the project will be delivered in a welcoming and familiar community setting. Its aim is to give young people the confidence, practical skills, and wellbeing support they need to build safe, ambitious, and positive futures.
