The South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is seeking a Children and Young People’s Project and Policy Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to help turn the South Wales Children and Young People’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan from strategy into action and make a real difference to the lives of children and young people across South Wales.

The Children and Young People’s Project and Policy Support Officer will play a key role in supporting delivery of the South Wales Children and Young People’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan, which aligns with the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan (2025–2029).

The post holder will provide high-quality, proactive project, policy and monitoring support to the Head of Community Safety, enabling effective coordination and reporting on progress made against the actions in the South Wales Children and Young People’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with action owners across each Directorate, playing a key role in driving forward activity.

Key responsibilities will include the establishment of a Children and Young People’s Police and Crime Panel; this will include scoping existing models of good practice, supporting the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures linked to safeguarding and engagement activity, delivering direct engagement activity with children and young people, identifying and developing links with existing children and young people’s engagement mechanisms across South Wales. The post holder will support the expansion of existing projects, such as ‘Young Voices’ and will undertake dedicated communications and engagement activity with children and young people on behalf of the Office, ensuring our communications content is clear, relevant and age appropriate.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with children and young people, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to prevention, early intervention, and safer communities. They will be confident working in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment and able to build strong working relationships across policing, health, education, local authorities, and the third sector.

The position is based in South Wales; however remote and agile working is in place.
