The four Police and Crime Commissioners in Wales are seeking to recruit up to 10 legally qualified persons (LQP). The role of the LQP is to provide expert advice and guidance to the Chair and Panel, and to assist them with procedural issues and points of law. The Panels are chaired by a chief or senior police officer or member of police staff of an equivalent grade. The Panel will also include two Independent Panel Members appointed by the Police and Crime Commissioners. The LQP will be required to work in all four police areas in Wales, which are Dyfed-Powys, Gwent, North Wales and South Wales.
Applications are sought from qualified lawyers who have experience in the field or knowledge of the police conduct regulations. An individual who can demonstrate integrity and independence of mind, commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, sound judgement and an objective approach issues presented. Although policing is not devolved in Wales candidates must have understanding of the particular features of conducting Hearings in Wales.
Candidates must satisfy the judicial-appointment eligibility condition on a 5-year basis, as set out in Section 50 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007. We embrace diversity and welcome applications from everyone.
Daily rate is currently £511.56 and £85.00 per hour preparatory work.
