Members of the team take part in AdFest

Last week, the Commissioner’s team attended AdFest, an event organised by All Wales People First.

All Wales People First is an organisation for and led by people with a learning disability. They aim to ensure that people with learning disabilities can move towards greater independence and an increased quality of life which they choose for themselves.

This year’s event, titled ‘This Is Me’, promotes all the things we celebrate and love about ourselves, alongside acknowledging the challenges and things we don’t like so much.

The day provided opportunity for a range of activities and workshops surrounding the topics of barriers faced, things that make life easier, person-centred planning, personal journeys, and health boundaries and sex.

The Commissioner’s team were pleased be part of the event and were grateful for the opportunity to speak to attendees about the role of the Police and Crime Commissioner and understand their views and experiences of local policing. The event also provided a great opportunity for us to understand how we can continue to develop our Easy Read materials, to ensure people with learning disabilities can access our information.
