Pontypridd Women’s Centre Visit
In December, the Director of Justice and Head of Victims and Criminal Justice visited the new Pontypridd Women’s Centre, home to the One Wales Service. This is the latest addition to the growing network of Women’s Centres which includes centres in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Dyfed-Powys.
The One Wales Service, delivered by The Nelson Trust and its partners, provides dedicated, trauma-informed support for women and young adults involved in the justice system in Wales. As part of the service, Women’s Centres offer a safe and supportive environment, helping women to make positive, sustainable changes in their lives.
During the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of The Nelson Trust, provided a tour of the new facilities and shared insights into the impact of the service, as well as plans for how the Pontypridd centre will support women from its new location.
The new centre represents a significant step forward in ensuring accessible, tailored support for women within their local community. One Wales aims to deliver lasting improvements to the outcomes and experiences throughout their justice journey, working in partnership with the criminal justice agencies, local authorities, health services and the voluntary sector. This collaborative approach ensures that the support not only benefits individuals but also contributes to safer communities.
