JOB TITLE: Violence Prevention and Reduction Unit (VPRU) Analyst
GRADE: 6/SO1- £33,603.00 – £39,276.00
BASED AT: The Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office at South Wales Police Headquarters, Bridgend
HOURS: 37 hours a week
TENURE: Fixed Term until 31 March 2028 / Secondment or loan opportunity (Funded through the Home Office Serious Violence Reduction Partnership Grant).

The South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is seeking an Analyst to join the Violence Prevention and Reduction Unit (VPRU). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to South Wales’s multi-agency, public health approach to violence prevention, early intervention and system change.
The post holder will provide high-quality, proactive data collection and analysis across multiple sources in relation to:
- Supporting the delivery of actions within the Police Crime and Justice Plan that relate to crime prevention and violence reduction;
- Supporting the VPRU to meet the duties of the Serious Violence Reduction Partnership Grant and Serious Violence Duty;
- Supporting the delivery of actions identified within the South Wales Violence Prevention and Reduction Strategy and;
- Supporting the data and analysis requirements of the South Wales Violence Prevention and Reduction Strategic Board and subgroups.
A key focus of the role will be supporting the VPRU Principal Data and Insights Officer and wider partners to develop the annual South Wales and local Serious Violence Strategic Needs Assessments. By collating and interrogating data, identifying patterns, risks and emerging threats, they will ensure that intelligence is available to the VPRU and partners to inform decision making and multi-agency collaboration. The postholder will also support the wider office in the monitoring and evaluation of performance data linked to the Police, Crime and Justice Plan, with a particular focus on Priority Areas 1,2 and 3.
The successful candidate will have experience statistical analysis, be proficient in Microsoft applications, spreadsheet and database software and the complex manipulation of data. The successful candidate will be able to present data in clear, comprehensive and logical reports.

The position is based in South Wales, however remote and agile working is in place.
