South Wales Victim Focus Celebrates 10 Years of Supporting Victims

This week, the Commissioner and her team joined celebrations to mark a significant milestone — ten years of South Wales Victim Focus and a decade of supporting victims of crime across South Wales.

Delivered by Victim Support, South Wales Victim Focus provides free, confidential and practical support to anyone impacted by crime. The multi‑crime service helps people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, offering tailored support to meet individual needs.

Over the past ten years, the service has grown from a developing pilot into a trusted and established support service, helping thousands of victims across South Wales each year.

Since the devolution of funding for victims’ services to Police and Crime Commissioners in 2015, partners have worked closely together to develop a service that responds effectively to the needs of local communities. This approach led to the establishment of South Wales Victim Focus, with a clear emphasis on accessible, face‑to‑face support for victims.

The service has continued to evolve, with regular reviews and redesigns informed by evidence and feedback, ensuring support remains responsive and person‑centred. South Wales Victim Focus remains a proud investment for the Police and Crime Commissioner, reflecting an ongoing commitment to putting victims first.

During the visit, the Commissioner met frontline staff delivering the service to thank them for their dedication and compassion, recognising the vital difference they make to victims every day.

South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Emma Wools said:

“Ten years on, South Wales Victim Focus continues to grow and adapt to the needs of our communities. I am incredibly proud of the impact it has made over the last decade and the positive difference it will continue to make for victims across South Wales.”
