Main Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight on all aspects of police performance, ensuring that the South Wales Police Force is held accountable to the public, stakeholders, and external bodies. Leading the development of the oversight and scrutiny programme.
  • Lead efforts to promote transparency in police operations by developing systems for public reporting on Commissioner and police performance, ensuring information is accessible and understandable.
  • Oversee internal audits, external inspections and peer review, ensuring that any recommendations are implemented and tracked to completion.
  • Lead the development of robust frameworks and performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of South Wales Police operations, and internal performance against the Police and Crime Plan.
  • Regularly monitor and assess key performance metrics, such as crime statistics, response times, community satisfaction, and officer conduct, in line with legal responsibilities.
  • Ensure that performance data is aligned with the objectives set by the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office and national policing standards.
