The South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is seeking a Project and Policy Support Officer to join the Violence Prevention and Reduction Unit (VPRU). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to South Wales’s multi-agency, public health approach to violence prevention, early intervention and system change.
The post holder will provide high-quality project, policy and monitoring support to the Head of the VPRU, the Senior Policy Officer and the wider VPRU, helping to coordinate a range of workstreams and interventions that support children, young people and communities at risk of harm. They will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan 2025–2029, including work aligned to the Serious Violence Duty, the Young Futures Prevention Partnership, and the development of a new South Wales Violence Prevention and Reduction Strategy. They will also support a wider programmes of work across the Commissioner’s Communities, Partnership and Prevention Directorate, particularly in regard to Community Safety and Antisocial Behaviour.
This role will also support the delivery and monitoring of the Hotspot Action Fund, which targets antisocial behaviour and serious violence in key locations across South Wales. The post holder will contribute to partnership activity in town centres and communities, supporting the Commissioner’s ambition to improve community safety and reduce harm through early intervention, problem solving and taken a place based approach.
Key responsibilities will include assisting with the planning and tracking of funded interventions, updating Gantt charts and delivery plans, coordinating partnership meetings, and preparing briefings and reports to inform decision-making. The role will also support research and insight-gathering to ensure that VPRU activity is evidence-led and focused on delivering real impact.
The successful candidate will have experience in a project or policy support role, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a commitment to violence prevention, early intervention, and safer communities. They will be confident working in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment and able to build strong working relationships across policing, health, education, local authorities, and the third sector.

The position is based in South Wales, however remote and agile working is in place.
