In Your Community days are dedicated engagement visits for the Commissioner to regularly meet a range of diverse community groups and representatives, education settings, local businesses and community led initiatives.
Seeing how things operate on the ground and speaking with local people enables the Commissioner to credibly reflect the views and experiences of local communities, ensure policing and criminal justice agencies are held accountable for the service they provide, and promote the positive services and projects taking place within our communities. Through a proactive and targeted approach, engagement visits are linked to:
- initiatives that are contributing towards keeping our communities safe and aligned to the delivery of the Commissioner’s priorities
- locations that have been raised as a concern to us in relation to increases in crime, disorder or anti-social behaviour.
- diverse community groups who are often marginalised and don’t have a voice.
- services we commission or provided grant funding to, to see first hand the impact of the funding invested.
