Youth Justice Multi Agency Day- 18th June 2026 The day was opened by Assistant Chief Constable Williams outlining the importance of collaborative working, sharing good practice and problem solving together. Detective Superintendent Jay Davies, Head of Justice Services who facilitated the day, reflected on last year’s event and outlined the aims for the day. The day allowed impactful discussion around topics such as Outcome 22, Knife Possession Guidance, Disproportionality, Child Victims and Children in Custody. Attending organisations took the opportunity to raise questions and suggest ways of working collaboratively to address barriers and progress actions. Three emerging issues were selected for scrutiny focus next year and planning is progressing on the Youth Justice Multi Agency Day 2027 with consideration to the feedback provided on the day. South Wales Police Youth Justice Service Officers shared good practice on Outcome 22, a progressive alternative to traditional out-of-court resolutions. Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team Wales shared powerful insights from the “Do You See My Trauma?” report, highlighting the lived experiences of racism and discrimination faced by minority ethnic individuals and families across Wales. The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team from South Wales Police shared how their Community Scrutiny Panel is helping to strengthen trust, confidence and awareness of police powers. South Wales Police Custody Team shared the steps being taken to reduce trauma for children in custody, ensuring a child-centred approach is taken to help minimise harm and prioritise wellbeing. Bridgend Youth Justice Service shared how they support child victims of crime, embedding a holistic, trauma-informed approach to ensure children receive the specialist support they need to recover, be heard, and thrive. South Wales Police Custody Team shared the steps being taken to reduce trauma for children in custody, ensuring a child-centred approach is taken to help minimise harm and prioritise wellbeing.
