Main Responsibilities

She is responsible for developing, implementing and Overseeing strategic policy and service delivery across Criminal Justice and Victims, ensuring alignment with the priorities of the Police, Crime and Justice Plan. Through strong multiagency collaboration, innovative commissioning and continuous service improvement, Jade ensures comprehensive support for victims, effective early intervention, and a Criminal Justice System (CJS) that is efficient, responsive and outcomefocused.

Aim: Ensure that local Criminal Justice Services are efficient and effective at meeting the needs of victims and witnesses, deliver justice to those who commit crime and reducing reoffending.

  • Drive system change through the development and delivery of strategy and policy improvements relating to criminal justice.
  • Deliver robust governance and drive improvements in justice outcomes
  • Working in partnership, taking a child first approach to minimising children’s contact with the Criminal Justice System
  • Work with partnership to design and commission effective services and interventions aimed at early intervention and prevention and reducing reoffending
  • Hold Policing to account through scrutiny and quality assurance

Out of Court Resolution Scrutiny Panel

The Out of Court Resolution Scrutiny Panels are co-ordinated by the South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office to independently review the use of Out of Court Resolutions by South Wales Police.

Volunteer Visiting Schemes

In South Wales, the Commissioner is responsible for the statutory independent custody visiting scheme and the non-statutory animal welfare visiting scheme. The Commissioner appoints and trains volunteers from the local community to carry out unannounced visits to police stations and the police dog and mounted sections.

The Independent Custody Scrutiny Panel provides independent oversight of police custody procedures in South Wales, helping to ensure detainees are treated fairly, safely and with dignity, while reviewing and addressing disproportionality to promote transparency and public confidence in policing.
