Theme: Violence in Schools (without a weapon) with a child
Across South Wales there has been a commitment to address violence in schools involving child victims. This thematic panel was held to scrutinise cases involving this type of offence dealt with via Out of Court Resolutions (OoCR).
Similar findings were observed across the panels. For example, a number of children who had committed violent offences in school had previously been exposed to domestic abuse. It was also identified that several of these children had experienced fixed-term or permanent exclusions and had prior convictions or OoCR’s.
Insights from the panels will be shared and escalated (where required) through appropriate governance structures, with responses to actions and escalations to be fed back in subsequent meetings. Member organisations are expected to take away the learning for their own organisations.
